[Game Interview] Interview with Jade Dynasty regarding Spring Content Update

GAMES had the opportunity to interview Jade Dynasty's Product Manager, Dean Sakuri, regarding the Spring Content Update launch for Jade Dynasty.

1. First and foremost, congratulations on the Spring Content Update Launch! How does Perfect World feel about the new update?

We’re very excited about the Jade Dynasty Spring Content Update. We have a dedicated player base and we’ve included a lot of features requested by them including new maps, higher level quests and an entirely new set of advanced skills.


2. The Spring Content Update features many new quests, gear, as well a other big updates to the game. How do you feel the players will react to the new update? How do you feel as a team about the new changes? Did everything go as planned?

With the Jade Dynasty Spring Content Update, newly Ascended and veteran players alike will have new content and features to play through. We’re fairly happy about the new features and look forward to hearing back from the players on the new content.


3. How much of an improvement do you think this update will make for the game? Will this improve Jade Dynasty as an MMO? How much of an impact will this have on the community?

While not as extensive as an expansion, the Spring Content Update does help to streamline things like the events user interface as well as the addition of a whole new skill system that will give users increased power and options in how they wish to play their characters. As for the impact on the community, much of the content is focused on high level players who have Ascended and it rewards the hardcore, dedicated players while also giving other players an incentive to quickly level up their characters to experience the new content and skill set.


4. How long did it take for the team to make all of the changes and finalize the launch? It must have taken them a lot of hard work!

While the content itself has been in development for quite awhile the localization was relatively quick. We’re very lucky to have such a dedicated team that can focus all of their attention on localizing content for Jade Dynasty and for this release we managed to complete our launch prep and testing before our scheduled deadlines.


5. Will Perfect World's other MMOs receive big updates like this one?

Yes, we definitely have more updates for our other MMOs down the pipeline. We recently launched an expansion for Perfect World International and have something in the works for Ether Saga Online. MMOs are constantly changing and evolving, which is why we have a constant flow of updates and expansions across all of our games.


6. Are there any other features currently in development that will be released after this update?

We do have some ideas of what will be coming out after this update, however many of the things that do come out are based on player feedback. We look forward to hearing feedback from the players on the content and are always listening to them as to what is good and what can be improved upon for future updates and expansions.


7. Anything else you would like to tell your players?

We would like to give a big thanks to our players, without you; there wouldn’t be a Spring Content Update or a Jade Dynasty. For those who might still be on the fence, we’d like to say that since our games are truly free-to-play, you have very little to lose by trying them, but a whole lot to gain, especially if you are tired of paying a monthly subscription fee.
