A new Firefall blog has cropped up where Audio Director Michael Bross talks about the creative process behind composing music to suit the game. The blog post is short but the treat is that the Firefall team has included an audio clip to show off the terrific music that the game will feature. Check it out!
My goal was to create something that was heroic yet urgent. The finished track ended up having a fair amount of guitar work, though when I set out to create the piece, I had not intended to use that instrument. Listening back, I don't know what I would have done had I not used guitars. It's not that the guitar is a lead instrument in the track but instead, I wove it in with the rest of the instrumentation along with using it to provide a wider atmosphere. What I like about it is that it adds some aggression and grit, which in turn, ups the intensity of the piece.
