Rift, a new pay-to-play MMORPG published by Trion Worlds, has officially launched in North America. The game will launch in Australia on March 2nd, Europe on March 3rd, and in the UK on March 4th.
Rift features a complex multi-class system with thousands of possibilities within four major classes (Rogue, Warrior, Cleric, and Mage) using souls, which can be interchanged and specialized into as players see fit. Its world, split across two factions (with three races each) is under constant invasion from eight elemental planes, which will split “rifts” into the world, assaulting not only the wilderness, but the very towns and quest hubs that players must defend if they wish to succeed.
The game is available for $49.99 for standard edition (PC), and requires a monthly subscription of $14.99. For a limited time, players can also get a $9.99/month rate on multi-month subscriptions.
To celebrate the launch, Trion Worlds has launched a new, “This is Rift,” developer video, which you can watch here.
