The third free expansion for Runes of Magic, called Chapter IV – Lands of Despair, has been newly announced, days before Frogster previews the new content at GDC.

The expansion will raise the game’s level cap to 70, and introduce several new zones and dungeons, along with a new epic storyline and additional (unrevealed) features. The first of these zones will be “Land of Malevolence,” featuring a dungeon in Lord Grafu’s castle and plague-ridden forests and rivers.

The story behind Lands of Despair will introduce players to a great contagion spread across Taborea by a mysterious demon who has even claimed the daughter of Lord Grafu, Annelia.

In addition to showcasing the expansion at GDC, Frogster has announced that the expansion will begin its release this April, with beta testing starting soon.
