Swedish-based eSports Team Claims Record Prize Pool at Dota 2 The International 3 Tournament

HAMBURG – Aug. 12, 2013 – Alliance, a professional video game team sponsored by Hamburg-based Razer, the leader in high-performance gaming systems, hardware and software, won a £925k prize purse at The International 3, the annual Dota 2 tournament. The tournament featured total winnings of £1.86 million, setting a record for the largest prize pool ever awarded at a competitive gaming event.

Sixteen of the world´s top Dota 2 teams participated in The International 3, which kicked-off Aug. 3 at the Benaroya Hall in Seattle, and wrapped up with the finals this past Sunday at the same venue.

Facing Season 1 champion (and Season 2 runner-up) Na´Vi of Ukraine, Swedish-based Alliance won the best-of-five series by the slimmest of margins, winning three games to two.
