Grepolis, Forge of Empires Apps to Show at gamescom as Launch Nears
Hamburg, August 7, 2013. InnoGames just announced that its lineup for the upcoming gamescom expo will include the un-released mobile versions of popular online titles Forge of Empires and Grepolis. Europe's biggest games fair, taking place from August 21 to August 25, comes close to launch time for the projects, giving journalists the chance to see the most complete versions yet. The apps will be compatible with the existing browser versions of the strategy games and offer full functionality. No matter if playing via PC, tablet or smartphone, players can expect to always have the same account, same allies and same opponents.
For InnoGames, the apps represent a huge step in its process of evolving the company from a browser games company into a cross platform games provider. "Real cross-platform development is very demanding and we have definitely not achieved everything we want to yet. However, we made relevant progress in the last months and we are confident that we are moving in the right direction.., explains InnoGames founder and CEO Hendrik Klindworth. Besides the full functionality and the adjusted UI, InnoGames sets a high focus on reaching the best possible performance. Thus, technology decisions are made individually for every single game. While Grepolis uses Adobe Air as a framework, Forge of Empires is based on Cocos 2D-X.
Grepolis players can look forward to trying the mobile apps for Android and iOS within the next weeks, while the iOS version for Forge of Empires is scheduled to be published later this year.
With 100 million registered players, InnoGames is one of the world’s leading developers and providers of online games. The Hamburg-based company has scored major successes with games such as Tribal Wars, The West and Forge of Empires.
