GAMES had the pleasure of taking the time to interview Perfect World about their newest MMO, Legend of Martial Arts.

1. Could you tell us what Legend of Martial Arts is all about?

Based on the popular Chinese TV comedy/drama, "My Own Swordsman.., the game incorporates a distinct cartoon style with in-depth dungeons, expansive zones and more, which all players even those not familiar with the show can enjoy. Legend of Martial Arts offers a more light-hearted MMORPG when compared to other games in Perfect World Entertainment's game portfolio.

2. What gameplay features does the game offer to players?

Legend of Martial Arts offers some unique features including the new Reavers race with two new classes, PvP dungeons, and special starting areas for the underworld race.
Players will also discover over 100 different transformations that boost character skills, a Legendary Weapon System which will grant the most elite players from each server with ultra rare and unique weapons and a variety of martial arts disciplines for players to develop their skills.

3. What kinds of classes and races will there be?

There are two races and over a dozen classes. The newly featured Reavers race splits into the Berserker class and the Oracle class.

The Berserker class specializes in transformation skills with the ability to change into a cat or wolf for greatly enhanced physical abilities.

The Oracle class is more of a buff/debuff class with the ability to summon gods from the underworld to activate special abilities and cast powerful magic spells.

4. How many kinds of cities are there in the game? Does each city offer players different features?

There are many different types of cityscapes as well as breathtaking landscapes. Some towns are based on traditional Chinese architecture while others are oozing with fantasy elements. Though many basic aspects are available throughout the various inhabited areas of world, certain locations offer unique services and specialty goods.

5. What kinds of creatures can players kill?

All throughout the game, especially in the dungeons and zones, players will meet friendly and adorable creatures. Upon entering the world, players will be greeted by a powerfully built, one-winged demon and have the opportunity to boast their skills during a face-off with monsters and bosses including ghosts, vampires, non-traditional demons, and wild beasts.

6. What can players expect as they start playing closed beta?

Although this game was previously launched into closed beta testing as Kung Foo!, players can expect to see a totally new game with a complete graphics overhaul and a lot of dynamic in-game content for casual players as well as hardcore players.

7. Does the game offer PvP as well as instance dungeons?

Absolutely! This is one of the more interesting features of Legend of Martial Arts. PVP dungeons will challenge players to battle against each other for the right to take down powerful monsters and bosses.

8. What features is Perfect World planning on implementing for Legend of Martial Arts as the days go by?

Right now we're working on implementing a dungeon queue system in order to help expedite the process of finding a group for faster dungeon runs. Additionally we're working on some underwater zones and content.

9. Will there be any kinds of character customization?

Players will be able to choose from hundreds of different fashion styles and customization options, including weapons and equipment ranging from deadly scythes to humorous, household items that have abilities one may not come to expect from a guitar of frying pan.

As players reach high levels within the game, the Ascension System in Legend of Martial Arts will unlock new levels of character progression and new content.
