GAMES had the awesome opportunity to catch up with Aeria Games and chat with them regarding their newest launch, Eden Eternal. Check out the interview below!
1. I’ve taken a look at some of the promotional screenshots for Eden Eternal and I must say, the graphics are very nice! Reminds me of Flyff and Silkroad Online (but maybe that’s just me). How does this game standout as an MMO compared to other anime-styled MMOs?
Eden Eternal boasts a much deeper MMORPG experience than typical anime-style games. In addition to an extensive quest series, the variety of in-game systems are also more detailed than is normally found in these types of games. The class-switching system itself makes the game stand out from not only anime-style games, but from most other MMORPGs.
2. This game has a feature that allows players to change their classes freely in-game. I have to admit that this is a complete shock for me as a gamer because I’ve never seen an MMO with a feature like this. How does an MMO like Eden Eternal have such a feature?"
What inspired Eden Eternal to provide players with such an ability? Do you think players will want to play this game because of the flexibility to change classes freely?
The class-switching feature is definitely one of Eden Eternal’s most unique and most anticipated. I think the creators were tired of seeing players reach the level cap as one class, then having to create a new character to try different classes. This way, players can reach the level cap with one class, then they have the added bonus of being able max out the level cap for another 14 classes! The system adds a lot more play time as one character.
3. Another thing I liked about the game (this game is already making me want to play it haha) is the fact that players start out as humans but will meet other races as well? Could you describe what these races are and how they compare to humans? Can players change races?
Unlike the class system, players must stick to their original race. Each race possesses different traits and capabilities which impact the game’s storyline. Specifically, each race has its own starting point in the game. Initially, players will only be able to play as the Human race. We will be adding additional playable races after the game’s release.
4. How does the player towns work? This is certainly a feature that not many MMOs have."
Only guild members can create towns? Will other players be able to see your town?
Yes, the Guild Leader must achieve certain requirements and then he or she can apply for a Town Permit. Each Town has 5 building slots, but there are many more than 5 building options. Players are encouraged to visit each other’s towns in order to take advantage of all the building types. Each building is staffed with a merchant NPC, who aids in questing, upgrading gear, etc. Guilds can also earn money by charging a tax rate for visitors.
5. How does the achievement system work? Do players just do quests and in-game events to attain titles and points?
Players earn achievements for completing difficult quests, epic monster defeats, and a host of other in-game milestones. All achievements are listed in the game, so players can clearly see what kind of cool stuff is possible and can set new goals for their character. Currently, experience and other bonuses are not linked to achievements. However, players can earn extra character traits and other boosts for obtaining titles in the game.
6. How complex and flexible is character customization? Is there a lot of choices to pick for hair color, face type, etc.?
Players can select from a handful of options hair color and style, eye and skin color, and facial type. Once in game, many more options open up for customization through armors, dyes, and an array of exotic options for clothing, costumes and equipment.
7. What other things will players love about Eden? Will features such as PvP, Instance Dungeons, and boss fighting be available?
Yes, all these features are found in Eden Eternal. The bosses are particularly cool – you’ll see a colorful variety with diverse combat styles. Players will also love the rich graphics, menagerie of exotic mounts, multiple unique dungeons, the need-or-greed loot feature, immersive questing experience, and the plethora of in-game systems related to skills, upgrades and achievements.
8. Before I forget, how easy is the game on computers? If someone had a netbook, would they still be able to play the game? How much of an impact does the game have on computers in terms of resources?
A typical laptop or desktop computer with a good graphics card should be able to run the game. The full system requirements are listed here:"System Requirements | Eden Eternal
9. Is there anything else you would like to share with the community?
