Star Wars: The Old Republic is banking on BioWare’s ability to tell a story well." With that in mind, it’s no surprise that SW:TOR will include voice acting and even a codex.

Gamers familiar with the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series will immediately know what this means for SW:TOR." The codex acts as log of what a player has been through and discovered throughout the game." For example, in Mass Effect the player learns about the universe, and in Dragon Age, the player fills in gaps in the story with the codex.

Imagine a mix of the two found in those BioWare games mentioned." That’s what players can expect from SW:TOR." Currently, the Star Wars: The Old Republic codex contains around 120,000 words on what you’re fighting, with whom you’re fighting, and how you fit into the story as a whole.

Finding information to unlock in the codex rewards player exploration." Players will be given some codex entries for just stepping foot on a planet, but sauntering off the beaten path may open up more codex entries." Players can even kill semi-hidden enemies to unlock such entries." Some codex entries even increase your stats." These are harder to find and present more of a challenge." These are called datacrons and are located in hard to reach places." Platforming to them seems likely considering the datacrons will be in plain sight." The work is in finding your way to the datacron.
